About this file

This file is a budget narrative template for the FY 2026 Team Nutrition Training Grants program. The template is designed to help applicants prepare their budgets in accordance with SF-424A requirements and must be formatted to fit on an 8.5 x 11-inch page using a minimum 11-point Times New Roman font, then converted to PDF for submission through Grants.gov. The template includes seven primary budget categories: Personnel (calculated as annual salary × %FTE × number of years, or hourly wage × hours per year × years); Fringe Benefits (total salary × fringe percentage rate); Travel (including airfare, baggage fees, mileage, parking, ground transportation, lodging, and per diem); Supplies (computers, Wi-Fi hotspots, cookware, food storage containers, utensils, office supplies, training supplies, taste-testing supplies, software, and nutrition education materials); Contractual (contractor services calculated as cost per hour × hours per year × number of years); and Other expenses (sub-grants, publication and printing, postage and shipping, meeting and training space rental, conference registration, membership dues, booth and exhibit fees, advertising, and stipends). The final section calculates Total Charges, which combines Total Direct Charges and Total Indirect Charges (using either a 10 percent de minimis rate or the amount indicated on the applicant's NICRA).

The template requires applicants to provide detailed narrative explanations for each line-item expense that demonstrate the need for the cost and how it aligns with the project narrative. All calculations must be shown in the template to document how expenses were derived. The example provided illustrates a Personnel entry for a graphic designer allocated at 25 percent FTE for the entire period of performance, with corresponding fringe benefits calculated proportionally. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use this template to ensure consistent formatting and proper documentation of budget justifications aligned with the FY 2026 Team Nutrition Training Grant objectives, which focus on enhancing training for child nutrition professionals across School Meals Programs (NSLP, SBP, SFSP) or CACFP providers to improve meal quality and nutrition education.
