Statement of Work for the
Purchase of US Quantities of Data Flows in the National Accounts
Introduction/Background BEA provides many economic measurements as part of the National Income and Product Accounts (NIPAs). The NIPAs are used for a variety of purposes in setting national economic policy and in forecasting and interpreting macroeconomic activity.
They include gross domestic product (GDP), which is considered the most useful summary measure of the Nation’s production. BEA, as the nation’s accountant and one of the world’s leading statistical agencies, collects source data, conducts research and analysis, develops and implements estimation methodologies and disseminates statistics to the public. In this role, BEA collects source data from many specific sectors of the economy.
It is important that BEA continually strives to improve and rely on accurate and consistent source data to develop estimates of data, created and stored. It is imperative that BEA stay on top of current and emerging trends to provide the most accurate estimates possible.
BEA is also working to accurately estimate Digital Economy Satellite Account (DESA).
Scope The objective of this procurement is to obtain access to data on new data created and stored (quantities of data flows) in the US quantities of data flows. We are seeking a vendor that can provide the following:
New data created: the data should be available on an annual basis, for the US.
Historical data going back to at least 2005 through 2020. All Data Types and Devices
Stored data: the data should be available on an annual basis, for the US.
Historical data going back to 2010 through 2020. All storage types - by storage media and by system/device category.
The data products must provide pivot tables that allow BEA to slice the information by geography, type of storage device, type of data, whether the data are stored, and history to compare growth over time. Methodologies and computations should be available upon request from NEA.
The data BEA obtains through these services will continue to improve the estimation of
DESA.
