Frequently Asked Questions

April 7, 2022

On March 31, 2022, the Administration for Community Living, Office of Elder

Justice and Adult Protective Services held an informational call about the

Enhancing APS Approaches to Cases Involving Opioids and Substance Use

Disorders funding opportunity (HHS-2022-ACL-AOA-EJIG-0072). These frequently asked questions reflect the questions that were received and addressed during the informational call.

I. Award Information

Can you provide an overview of other ACL grant funding opportunities and then speak more about why and how you are “flexing funds” across these grant opportunities?

ACL has two other EJIG funding opportunities, “Improving Guardianship” and “Improving Results for APS Clients.” ACL will award $6 million dollars across all three EJIG funding opportunities. A planned total of 20 cooperative grants across all three opportunities will be awarded. The number of grants awarded in each of the three Elder Justice Innovation Grants will depend upon the number of grant applications that are received, the amount of each grantees’ request for funding, and how objective reviewers score each application.

II. Application Screening Criteria

Will applicants receive a confirmation that their grant application has been received to avoid a late submission?

https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=337804

Yes, when an application is submitted in Grants.gov the applicant will receive from Grants.gov an electronic automatic notification of receipt that contains a

Grant.gov tracking number.

If you encounter any kind of technical difficulties in submitting the grant application, we strongly encourage you to contact the Support Desk at Grants.gov or toll free at 1-800-518-4726. You must obtain a Grants.gov Support Desk Case

Number and must keep a record of it. If you do not have a case number and your application is received late or is missing its component pieces, your application will be screened out.

III. Award Notices

When will the applicant be notified if there grant application has been selected or rejected for funding?

Several factors impact the date when successful applicants are notified of their grant award, so ACL is unable to provide an estimated date at this time.

Applicants will be notified as to whether their project has or has not been selected for the funding. The target project start date is September 1, 2022.
