About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The FWC is seeking to purchase the Viken Detection Nighthawk BTX imaging system for use by Port Investigators for package inspection. The device is required to thoroughly and efficiently inspect packages, vessels, and other objects of interest without compromising them, and it also alerts when lead is detected. The FWC intends to award a single-source contract for a term of 1 year from the issuance of the original purchase order, with the potential for multiple purchase orders to be issued. The estimated dollar amount for this procurement is $175,000.

The FWC has determined that the Viken Detection Nighthawk BTX/DTX is the only device on the market that can provide true material identification for lead and includes a DTX transmission arm for simultaneous scanning of Backscatter and Transmission. This device is necessary and unique, and the FWC has confirmed the unavailability of competition for this requirement.
