About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The FWC is seeking an annual maintenance agreement for a Bigfoot 5 laser cell sorter with spectral unmixing, which is used for routine monitoring and research of harmful algal bloom species. The intended single source is Life Technologies, under the Thermo Fisher Scientific umbrella, as the Bigfoot system includes proprietary technology and requires regularly scheduled maintenance by specifically trained Life Technologies engineers. The contract term is for three years upon issuance of a purchase order.
The estimated dollar amount for this single-source acquisition is $145,180. Life Technologies is the sole distributor of Bigfoot cell sorter maintenance agreements, and the FWC requires access to the technical support provided by Life Technologies to ensure the instrument is functioning according to specifications and to assist with the development of new assays.
