About this file

This document is a Notice of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI). FWRI is seeking to contract with Bay Shellfish Company to condition and spawn bay scallop broodstock, and provide batches of bay scallop veliger larvae and juveniles. The contract term is valid from the date of initial purchase order issuance through June 30, 2025. FWRI is the sole requestor, and this procurement is funded under a Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) grant for bay scallop restoration in Florida. FWRI has determined that Bay Shellfish Company is the only shellfish hatchery within Florida that maintains the necessary permits and has the capability to produce bay scallops for this restoration project. Prospective vendors must provide information regarding their ability to supply these services by October 12, 2022.

The estimated dollar amount for this contract is $300,000. FWRI is procuring these services through a single-source justification, as Bay Shellfish Company is the only commercial hatchery in Florida that has produced bay scallops, and bay scallops from outside of Florida cannot be used for this restoration project. This contract opportunity is limited to the state of Florida and the local jurisdictions of Leon County and Tampa City.
