About this file

This document is an addendum to a solicitation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) for Cattle Grazing at the Okaloacoochee Slough Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The solicitation, numbered FWC 23/24-107, seeks competitive pricing for this cattle grazing contract. The addendum provides answers to questions from prospective bidders regarding site visits, vehicle access, move-in dates, liability, fencing requirements, controlled burning, and work during hunting seasons. The contract is anticipated to have a move-in date of October 2024, and the FWC Project Manager will determine deferment times after controlled burns. Bidders must be registered in the MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) system and with SunBiz prior to the bid opening, which is scheduled for 2:30 PM ET on May 7, 2024. The contract will be awarded to serve Leon County and the City of Tampa in the state of Florida.

The addendum specifies that a 5-strand barbed wire fence will be allowed along County Road 832, and the FWC plans to burn approximately 2,800 acres per year, with a likely 30-60 day deferment period before grazing is allowed. The contractor will be responsible for their actions and indemnify the FWC for any public incidents on the leased property. There are no limitations on the contractor's work during hunting seasons, but any concerns can be addressed by the FWC Project Manager.
