About this file
This is an amendment document to the U.S. Advanced Nuclear Energy Licensing Cost-Share Grant Program (DE-FOA-0003339) issued by the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration. Amendment 000007 modifies critical application deadlines and submission periods for the current review cycle. Applications must now be submitted between July 1, 2026 and November 30, 2026, superseding the previous July 1–September 30 window. The selection notification date and anticipated award date for the current review cycle have also been revised; applicants should consult page 6 of NOFO Part 1 for the specific updated dates and page 24 for additional clarifications regarding the revised application period.
The amendment confirms that the underlying program structure remains unchanged: cost-shared grants fund Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) fees for advanced reactor regulatory review with 20 percent cost-share requirements for Topic Area 1 (pre-application review, $5,000–$200,000 awards) and 50 percent cost-share for Topic Area 2 (application review, $100,000–$8 million awards). Eligible applicants include domestic for-profit entities, non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, state and local governments, and tribal entities, with work to be performed in the United States. The program operates under Assistance Listing 81.121 (Nuclear Energy Research, Development and Demonstration) with $50 million in total funding available over five years. Applicants are limited to two applications per review cycle and may hold no more than two active awards simultaneously.
