Performance Work Statement

Forklift / Pallet Jack Maintenance

1) Background:

The goal of this contract is for The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Facilities Services Division (FSD) and Package Services Group (PSG) personnel to perform required operations using material handling equipment and have confidence the equipment is in proper working condition. NIST PSG uses material handling equipment to process approximately five thousand parcels monthly. FSD processes everything from a box of paperclips to large scientific instruments, including but not limited to office furniture, construction materials of all sizes, and hazardous materials class 1-9 and anything in between. The material handling equipment is vital in the accomplishment of NIST FSD and PSG daily operations, therefor the maintenance requirements need to be completed quarterly as scheduled to maintain an appropriate level of job readiness.

2) Objectives:

Contact vendors that are competent and capable to provide a regular scheduled maintenance program in addition any repairs needed to maintain operational material handling equipment located within the NIST FSD at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Gaithersburg, MD, 20899.

NIST currently operates THIRTEEN (13) material handling units that are located within the

FSD.

When any service is conducted on the equipment, the vendor will provide a copy, soft copy – via e-mail or hard copy – physical document, of the work order showing what tasks were completed.

4) Tasks:

The work requirements for this service contract are as follows.

A) Length of service:

The length of service for the contract is base year plus four option years.

The dates of service per year are as follows.

B) Establish a regular maintenance schedule for all units in the Facilities Services Division (FSD):

The current THIRTEEN (13) material handling units will be on a set schedule for maintenance. The scheduled maintenance is to be conducted within a ninety (90) day period i.e., quarterly. A hard or soft copy of the schedule will be provided to the COR for this contract for their records and scheduling.

C) COR needs to be notified 24hours prior:

The contractor will provide the name of the technician to the COR 24 hours prior to the scheduled maintenance. The COR will enter the name into the NIST Visitor Registration System to eliminate delays at NIST Truck Inspection.
