About this file

This is a Packaging Requirements document (AFMC Form 158) for federal military procurement under Purchase Instrument Number FD20302700083-00. The document establishes packaging and marking standards for item 2840016854338PR and references MIL-STD 129 (Revision R) and MIL-STD 2073-1 (Revision E) as the governing standards for military packaging practices.

The primary requirement addresses wood packaging material (WPM) compliance with United Nations-implemented phytosanitary restrictions designed to prevent invasive species such as the pinewood nematode. All wooden components—including pallets, skids, boxes, crates, and dunnage—must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to 56 degrees Centigrade (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for a minimum of 30 minutes. Certification and marking by an accredited agency recognized by the American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) is mandatory, with reference to International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM No. 15). All items shall be packaged in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1 for military packaging standards and MIL-STD-129 for military marking standards. Shipping container markings must include unit serial numbers, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) names, and OEM model numbers as specified on the AFMC Form 158. The packaging specialist responsible for this requirement is Richard R. Davis (406 SCMS / GULAA), dated 5 August 2026.
