Fish Cleaning Station Statement of Work (SOW)

1.0 Background

New Melones Lake is a popular destination for recreation, particularly fishing. Two fish cleaning stations, put in decades ago, have outlived their service life, with one located in the Tuttletown Recreation Area completely inoperable. Rebuilding this station is cost prohibitive and impractical because its present location is difficult to find and drive to with a boat and trailer. The original placement of the station was not adequately considered, placing it well away from the boat launch at lake itself. Additionally, the old station has a grinder incapable of fully masticating especially bony fish (like catfish) creating issues to Tuttletown’s plumbing and sewage system.

A new fish cleaning station will be centrally located within the parking area of the Tuttletown boat launch. The station will also have an improved grinder capable of handling the boniest of fish to be found in the lake.

A new fish cleaning station supports Reclamation’s desire to provide enhanced amenities to the public. New Melones incorporates the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA) into its operation, allowing for the collection of fees to improve recreational services. Fish cleaning stations are an expectation, an amenity supported through revenue generated and retained by the park.

2.0 Scope

The new fish cleaning station will be purchased as a unit, comprised of equipment necessary to clean the parts of the fish retained, while ably masticating the parts to be discarded.

3.0 Task

This project will require the contractor to supply all parts & equipment, to replace the current fish cleaning station with an equivalent. Contractor will be responsible for initial startup testing to ensure operability and familiarization training upon completion of the in-house installation by the Bureau of Reclamation.
