About this file
The document is a Request for Proposals (RFP) from the City of Santa Monica Fire Department for Fire Department Turnout Maintenance services. The solicitation seeks a contractor to provide comprehensive maintenance, cleaning, repair, and inspection services for firefighter personal protective equipment (PPE), including turnout gear, coats, pants, helmets, gloves, boots, and other accessories. The bid was released on September 23, 2025, with a deadline for questions on September 26, 2025, and a bid submission deadline of October 6, 2025, at 3:00 pm. The contract appears to be for an initial term with four potential one-year renewal options, covering maintenance for 125 fire department members with two sets of custom fire turnout gear.
The pricing proposal includes an extensive itemized pricing schedule with unit costs for various inspection, cleaning, repair, and alteration services across different types of firefighting equipment. The bid requires vendors to demonstrate a minimum of three years of recent experience with Southern California Professional Fire Departments, provide proof of NFPA 1851 compliance, and submit Safety Data Sheets for cleaning products. Vendors must also comply with the City of Santa Monica's Living Wage Ordinance, which establishes a minimum wage of $22.50 per hour for certain employees, and provide comprehensive insurance coverage. The city will evaluate bids based on pricing, availability, experience, and references, with the flexibility to award to the best overall bidder.
