About this file

This is a Statement of Need for the procurement of a Philips LAS-100 Neximer Laser System by James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital (JAHVH) in Tampa, Florida, under VA VISN 8 Network Contracting Office 8. The hospital requires an image-guided excimer laser system for use in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory within the Cardiology Department to replace existing equipment that has reached end-of-life. The Neximer laser is utilized for interventional cardiology procedures to treat coronary and peripheral vascular problems, as well as cardiac lead management issues.

The required system must meet specific salient characteristics including start-up time of less than 30 seconds, touchscreen-guided workflows, 360-degree maneuverability with a small lab footprint, and adjustable fluence and rate settings. The equipment must demonstrate capabilities in coronary atherectomy (including in-stent restenosis, calcified lesions, ostial lesions, and chronic total occlusions), peripheral atherectomy (including mixed morphologies and uncrossable CTOs), and lead extraction with frequency adjustment from 25 Hz to 80 Hz. The vendor shall provide the equipment with standard manufacturer industry warranty; extended warranty requiring advance payment is not acceptable. No software compatibility requirements or additional government training are specified for this requirement.
