About this file
This is a Solicitation Modification document issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky for hay and straw supplies to support the Kentucky Horse Park. The Request for Bid (RFB 758 2600000556), Version 3, was issued on May 5, 2026, with an extended closing date of May 13, 2026, at 1:30 PM. The solicitation requests five line items totaling 129 tons of hay and straw products: 5 tons of baled straw, 20 tons of baled hay with orchard grass and alfalfa mixture, 20 tons of baled hay with timothy grass and alfalfa mixture, 80 tons of baled hay with timothy grass and orchard grass mixture, and 4 tons of western straight alfalfa available on a limited basis. All deliveries must be completed and received within seven days from the order date, delivered Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM local time. Straw deliveries to the Hall of Champions barn require use of a hay elevator and cannot accommodate semi-trucks; vendors must provide all labor and equipment for unloading and stacking. Interested bidders may coordinate advance visits with the receiving location at Kentucky Horse Park, 4089 Ironworks Parkway, Lexington, Kentucky 40511, to determine optimal delivery options.
The modification extends the original bid due date and addresses additional vendor-submitted questions. Bales must meet specific quality standards, including being clean, bright, free from foreign matter and mold, and weighing between 40 and 60 pounds per bale with two or three string ties. All deliveries are F.O.B. destination and subject to inspection and acceptance, with vendors responsible for providing weight tickets documenting final loaded weight. Unacceptable or moldy bales will be returned and excluded from delivery counts and final weight calculations. Vendors should submit completed bid information indicating best pricing and delivery capabilities. Contact information for inquiries is available through Keith Srutowski at 502-564-7007. Online bidding is permitted for this solicitation.
