About this file
This document is a Minimum Requirements Document (MRD) for a Westar SL-10K brand name or equal Projection Light Source. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Visualization Laboratory requires this specialized, portable sunlight-quality LED projector to support research on advanced cockpit displays. The projector must provide a steady illumination of over 10,000 fc to meet diffuse reflection requirements. Key requirements include a remote lamp control command interface, a lamp life over 50,000 hours, and the ability to operate on 12Vdc power for up to 6 hours using a LiFeP04 aircraft-rated battery. This MRD is related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) Solicitation COMBO-AFRL-PZLEQ-2024-0021 issued by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory for the Projection Light Source.

Minimum Requirements Document
Westar SL-10K brand name or equal Projection Light Source.
Document Date: 19 August 2024
Background & Scope:
AFRL Visualization Laboratory research on advanced cockpit displays requires testing for sunlight readability and compliance with the diffuse reflection requirements. This testing requires a special, portable sunlight-quality projector with illumination levels at 10,000 fc (clear day overhead sunlight at high altitude reflecting off of cockpit display into pilot's eyes).
Requirements/Salient Characteristics:
The vendor shall provide a quantity of one (1) brand name or equal Westar Display Technologies LED-based SL-10K Projection Light Source and ancillary items.
Minimum performance parameters/salient characteristics:
-Shall have a Temperature stabilized LED light source designed to project intensity adjustable to > 10,000 fc steady illumination that meets the diffuse reflection requirements of MIL-
L-85762A and MIL-HDBK-87213
-Shall have a remote lamp control command interface, which produces an illumination spot ranging from 30mm to 50mm with a working distance of 10in. to 15in.
-Shall have a lamp life >50 khr
-Shall run on 12Vdc 5A power supply provide by included AC power adapter (or can be mobile for e.g. 6 hr with a 12Vdc 6Ah LiFeP04 aircraft-rated battery)
-Shall have a 0.25in.-20 camera accessory mount.
