About this file

This document is a set of Questions and Answers (Q&A) for a B 486 HVAC Repair project involving the replacement of a 10-ton HVAC unit with a new 5-ton unit. The Q&A addresses critical technical details including ductwork installation, conduit routing, floor protection, point of connection specifications, and testing requirements. Key clarifications include: conduit can be run outside the exterior wall (subject to code requirements), ductwork must be built to Smacna standards, man lifts are allowed on the weight room floor with floor protection responsibility, and an existing duct smoke detector can be retained if undamaged. The project requires a Performance Verification Test (PVT) to confirm proper unit operation and integration with the existing Utility Monitoring Control System, with references to the Dobbins Design Guide for control requirements. Additional notes specify that factory startup is only required if mandated by the manufacturer, and referenced images will be attached to an amendment.
