About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for 3D laser scanners to document crime scenes for later digital recreation. The FDLE is seeking to upgrade its current FARO S150 scanners with the FARO Focus Premium 3D Laser Scanner, which is compatible with the FDLE's existing software for 3D crime scene recreation. FARO Technologies, Inc. is identified as the sole manufacturer and developer of the required scanners and software. The intended single-source procurement is for a one-year contract with an estimated value of $180,000.

The justification for the single-source procurement is that the FARO scanners and software are proprietary and the only products compatible with the FDLE's existing systems and requirements. The FDLE has determined that the requested commodities or services are available only from FARO Technologies, Inc. as the sole source. The procurement is intended to cover the FDLE's statewide operations, specifically the Leon County and Tallahassee City jurisdictions.
