B.2 SERVICES AND PRICES/COSTS – Addendum to SF 1449, blocks 19/20 B.2.1 Description of Services The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (specifically the Center for Biological Evaluation and Research (CBER), the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), and the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN)) has a requirement for animal husbandry support services for the (CBER/CDER/CDRH) White Oak Consolidated Animal Program (WOC AP) and (CFSAN) Muirkirk Road Complex (MRC/MOD-1) Animal Care and Use Programs (ACUP), both located in Maryland.
Animal husbandry support includes but is not limited to the provision of quality care to all research animals, sanitation of all animal care and diet preparation/formulation facilities and the provision of protocol-specified technical procedures support, as well as ancillary tasks necessary to accomplish these services, i.e.: quality control, occupational safety and health, inventory control, equipment maintenance, development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, and a comprehensive training program. The need for these services is paramount as the preponderance of the FDA's research mission can only be accomplished through animal research.
