PART 3 – DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT
Background The Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) laboratory network performs scientific testing on products which are regulated by FDA. To ensure that the testing results are competent and suitable for regulatory purposes, the ORA laboratories are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 (International Standard for Organization - General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) standards. A requirement of the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard is that scientific equipment is annually calibrated and such calibration procedures are standardized and documented.
VITEK and VIDAS instruments are present throughout ORA food testing laboratories and require periodic maintenance and calibration services. Additionally, periodic updates are required to the software and computers which operate the instruments. Reliable and timely maintenance and repair of these systems are critical to the mission of the agency, which is protecting public health by uncovering pathogens in consumer products.
Purpose The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle to support the annual maintenance and repair of ORA’s fleet of VITEK and VIDAS instruments. The contract would also allow for the purchase of computer and software upgrades, in order to extend the lifetime of the instruments.
Scope The Contractor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the tasks and deliverables described in this Statement of Work (SOW). The ORA/ORS laboratories are in need of a preventive maintenance agreement for annual calibrations of the VIDAS and VITEK immuno-analyzer by the parent company, BioMerieux, an ISO 17025 requirement, with Service
