About this file

This is an Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Form 158 for Packaging Requirements, dated October 2022, which provides detailed instructions for packaging and marking requirements for military contracts. The form is associated with solicitation FA851725Q0006 for an Air Data Calibrator (NSN: 6685015767990KU).

The form outlines three main packaging requirement categories: 1) Engineered or Specialized Containers (CDRS), which requires evaluation of existing DoD containers before developing new ones, 2) Packaging and Marking of Hazardous Materials, which must comply with various federal regulations and transportation safety standards, and 3) Packaging Data requirements involving preservation and packing data forms. The form includes specific requirements for wood packaging materials, requiring heat treatment (56°C/133°F for 30 minutes) and proper certification from an American Lumber Standards Committee (ALSC) accredited agency. It contains tables for recording item identification, quantity per unit pack (QUP), preservation and packing specifications according to MIL-STD-2073-1 or ASTM D3951 standards, and detailed coded data fields for packaging specifications.
