West Coast Accelerated Trades Training for the Maritime Industrial Base

Frequently Asked Questions as of 25 September 2025

1. How long has the Danville, VA site been in successful operation?

Initial pilot launched in 2021, with a phased, multi-year approach to reaching full operational capability (800-1000 graduates annually)

2. Would you be able to provide a list of industry partners for the Danville site to serve as an example / help us gain a better understanding of the need for the West Coast?

We encourage all maritime industrial base suppliers, throughout the US, to use ATDM as a talent pipeline. In California, there are thousands of maritime industrial base suppliers throughout the state, with a large concentration in/around Southern California. MIB would provide a list of suppliers in California to the successful offeror to facilitate industry partnership, bolster recruitment, and achieve placement goals.

3. Are West Coast technical colleges with machining programs invited to submit?

Yes, but a successful approach would address the ability to provide the training required to meet the demand signal for suppliers in the region. This may include more than one discipline, and an approach that may include multiple partners could also fulfill the requirement.

4. Would the site(s) be pre-determined by the U.S. Navy's Maritime Industrial Base Program Office at the proper time, or should our proposal include a proposed site for such training to take place?

You may propose sites that already exist.
