Scope of Work:
Project Description:
The Wachusett Reservoir spillway is accessed through a series of gates starting at gate
40 on S Main St. in Clinton, followed by two internal gates. The spillway basin is a 1.2-acre rocky channel that hosts a wide range of native and non-native vegetation, including low growing trees, shrubs, climbing vines, and herbaceous cover. For water supply infrastructure monitoring requirements, it is necessary for the channel to be clear of visually obstructing vegetation. Vegetation in the channel has been mechanically maintained by DWSP staff, but the rocky terrain requires the use of hand tools, and the numerous persistent resprouts along with the spread of invasive vines has rendered this task unfeasible by mechanical methods alone. Long-term monitoring and maintenance of the spillway infrastructure requires chemical control of all vegetation within the basin.
Project Tasks:
1. Foliar herbicide application using an aquatic-safe formulation of glyphosate and / or triclopyr to all vegetation within the 1.2-acre basin at the top of the spillway channel (area delineated on the attached maps).
2. Cut-stem treatment also using an aquatic-safe formulation of glyphosate and / or triclopyr of any woody vegetation that is too tall to spray.
Bidders Conference:
A bidders’ conference will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 9:00AM. Meeting location will be at DWSP Gate 40 on South Main Street (just past 71 South Main Street) in
Clinton (Coords: 42.407301, -71.698778).

• Vendor shall notify the local Conservation Commission prior to starting work.
(DCR will provide the vendor with appropriate language to include in the notification consistent with prior notifications citing maintenance work on utility infrastructure.)
• Access to the work area will be through gated access point 40 on South Main
