About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for a Data Diodes support solicitation. The Q&A clarifies that the request is specifically for BAE XTS Diode support and associated items, with the OEM being BAE Systems. The technical details reveal the diodes will connect segregated/air-gapped enclaves to DREN at an unclassified level, supporting two-way data transfer using protocols including TCP, UDP, SFTP, SMTP, HTTP/S, and DSG. Incoming data is for patching and updates, while outgoing data is generated by S&Es.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory, set aside 100% for small businesses. The solicitation is for Data Diode Software Support, with a response deadline of 30 January 2026. The NAICS code is 541519 (Other Computer Related Services) with a size standard of 150 employees, and the Product Service Code is 7G21 for IT and Telecom Network Digital Network Products. The contractor is required to provide items detailed in Attachment 1 on a firm fixed price basis with shipping FOB Destination.

Data Diodes Questions & Answers

1. Please clarify whether this request is only for the BAE XTS Diode support and associated items or whether you are also looking for comparable hardware and support solutions?

This request is for the BAE XTS Diode support and associated items only. This is not a solicitation for comparable hardware and support solutions.

2. Can you confirm the OEM that this request is for in order for us to provide you with the most accurate pricing?

The OEM is BAE Systems.

3. What networks are being connected?

We are connecting segregated/air gapped enclaves to DREN. All systems are the same classification level, unclassified. The diodes are in place because the segregated/air gapped enclaves are high risk.

4. What protocol(s) are being used?

TCP, UDP, SFTP, SMTP, HTTP/S, and DSG

5. What data is being transferred in which direction?

We have two diodes, one for each direction. For the data going into the enclave, it is required patching and updates. For the data leaving the enclave, it is the data the S&Es generate.
