About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a turnstile replacement project at Buildings 1810 and 1820. The document clarifies key requirements and constraints for contractors performing the work.

Single turnstiles with matching control boards are required for both buildings. Turnstiles must be pre-built and brought to the site; on-site welding is not preferred. Red and green lights are mandatory components. Contractors may reuse existing bolts from the old turnstiles. Work hours are restricted to 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The government will provide photographic references of model stickers and overalls for both buildings, and contractors are prohibited from taking their own pictures. Connections to Hirsch components are out of scope, though cables may be left hanging. Provision of extra parts is not required. Critical to project sequencing, turnstiles must be replaced one at a time—once an old turnstile is removed, the new one must be installed immediately; plywood placement is not permitted during the removal phase, and all turnstiles cannot be removed simultaneously. The building manager will handle power shutoff at the Hirsch breakers as needed.
