Interchanges - FA9101-22-Q-0002 - C1 Heater Isolation and Relief Valves Questions Answers
1. On HPA-MV1-RF: Remark 3 says “Furnish with an integral 1 inch bypass valve (per vendor preferred valve body type).” Question: Is the bypass valve actuated with an electric actuator or is it manually actuated?
1. Manually Operated
2. Remark 4 says “HPA-MV1-RF and HPA-V24-RF shall have identical bodies with different actuator as specified”. Question: HPA-V24-RF body should be identical EXCEPT for having a 1” bypass line and bypass valve?
2. Correct
3. For the trunnion ones, WE or RTJ is required? The sch160 confused me a bit...
or do you mean the thickness of the flange? See pic below.
3. RTJ, Schedule 16 refers to the pipe
4. Mercer does not offer a 3x4x4 dual outlet option with these connections.
They can quote a 3x4 in its place if that will be sufficient.
4. No, the dual outlet are opposite of each other. If the valve relieves, the lateral forces counteract on another. A single outlet would produce a lateral force and the accompanying moment.
5. Standard materials have a max low temp rating of -20F. The data sheet lists operating temp -50F to 110F. Please have confirm if we need to account for the low -50F or if -20F standard materials are suitable.
5. Yes, the material needs to account for a low temperature of -50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Standard materials, like 304 ,usually advertise -20 degrees Fahrenheit as the low temperature because they are not worried about performing the calculations at low temperature and are usually worried about high temp. Yield strength within stainless increases with decreasing temperature. That being said, standard materials should be acceptable for use.
6. There is note at the bottom of the data sheet that requests the valve able to be reset to 800 psig if/when needed. Unfortunately our spring at 1353 psig will have a pressure range of 1001-1400 psig
6. An acceptable "reset" would be replacement of the relief valve spring.
7. Can you please suggest the manufacturer/brand 7. We cannot list "brand names".
