Cambium PTP700 units are required for several reasons.

1) These units are already approved to operate on DoD ranges and overseas, operating in the “NATO” bands assigned by FCC and EIA frequency management agencies. The NATO band is 4.4-4.6 GHz

2) These units have been approved by the DoD/DISA “Joint Frequency Panel of the U.S. Military

Communications-Electronics Board (MCEB)” frequency management committee as “blessed” to operate on DoD ranges without affecting other radio equipment.

3) Since these units have a J/F-12 (DD Form 1494) approval, AEDC Frequency Manager has provided us a 5-year allocation to use these here as needed

4) Since these units have a J/F-12 (DD Form 1494) approval, Other DoD test range frequency managers are highly likely to allow these units to operate on their ranges

5) The USAF has these exact same units and has developed safety procedures for their use

6) These units provide FIPS 140-2 AES data encryption which is required for data transmission.

The safety aspects of these antennas are a known quantity as safety training and procedures have already been developed by local and USAF-wide groups.
