Air Force Portal Self-Registration Process

To register for an Air Force Portal account, you must be a U.S. Government Civilian, U.S. Military, or non-military contractor supporting military efforts. There are two primary means of getting an account 1) by self-registration and/or 2) filling out a GCSS-AF-Form 41, Systems Authorization Access Request.

Personnel having a Common Access Card (CAC) will be able to self-register for an Air Force Portal account. If a user is unable or unauthorized to receive a CAC but has a valid portal account need they will need to execute the process below with the understanding that they will most likely need to complete steps 2-4, which will require at least 2-3 weeks for approval. The CAC is not used in the registration process, but CAC issuance guarantees proper information in the Air Force Directory Service (AFDS) database during the verification process.

Most Air Force personnel can obtain an account through self-registration, which is available on the login page of the portal (https://www.my.af.mil). Users will be required to submit some personal information, which will be verified against the Air Force Directory Service (AFDS) database. Those not verified against the AFDS will receive notification via email to contact the FAB for account creation.

The following instructions outline the registration process for Air Force Portal accounts:

1. Attempt to self-register for the Air Force Portal account at (https://www.my.af.mil).

Please skip to #5 if you successfully create an account.

2. If you are unable to obtain an account, fill out the GCSS-AF Portal Form 41.

3. The contractor’s security manager must sign the Form 41, validating they obtained a favorable National Agency Check (NAC), at minimum.

4. Additionally, a USAF sponsor must sign the Form 41, validating the contractor’s need for Air Force Portal access. For the STAT program solicitation, the USAF sponsor will be Ms. Kathy Swanson, Kathy.swanson@arnold.af.mil, 931-454-4409 (phone) or 931-454-7330 (fax). Please fax or e-mail the signed form to Ms. Swanson, who will sign and fax to the Air Force Portal Program Office (DSN 596-1040, Commercial 334 416-1040), and the account will be created.

5. Once the account is created, the user will receive two e-mail notifications: one will contain their username, the other will contain their temporary password.

6. After initial login, the user will be prompted to change their password.

7. Users will then be asked to fill out a short profile, which will allow for further customization of their portal experience.

The Air Force Portal will be ready for the user to register within 48 hours upon receiving a CAC (you will pick up at your Military Personnel Office). Users with questions or problems after the 48-hour time period should contact the FAB Portal Help Desk. If a user is unable to or not authorized to receive a CAC but has a valid portal account need, also call your FAB Portal Help Desk.
