1 .2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS

The exter ior insula t ion and f inish system (EIFS) must be a job-fabricated , drainable , exter ior wal l covering consis t ing of sheath ing, insula t ion board, re inforcing fabric , base coat , f in ish coat , adhesive and mechanical fas teners as appl icable. The system components must be compat ible with each other and with the substrate as recommended or approved by, and the products of , a s ingle manufacturer regular ly engaged in furnishing Exter ior Insulat ion and Finish Systems. Al l mater ials must be instal led by an appl icator approved by the system manufacturer . EIFS must be Class PB and must be a matching color and a matching f inish.

1 .2 .1 System Requirements and Tests

The system must meet the performance requirements as verif ied by the tests l i s ted below. Where a wal l system of s imi lar type, s ize , and design as specif ied for this project has been previously tes ted under the condi t ion speci f ied herein, the resul t ing tes t reports may be submit ted in l ieu of job specif ic tests .

1 .2 .1 .1 Water Penetrat ion

Test the system for water penetrat ion by uniform stat ic a i r pressure in accordance with ASTM E331. There must be no penetrat ion of water beyond the plane of the base coat /EPS board interface af ter 15 minutes at 6 .4 psf , or 20 percent of posi t ive design wind pressure , whichever is greater .

1 .2 .1 .2 Wind Load

Test the system for wind load by uniform stat ic a ir pressure in accordance with ASTM E330/E330M (procedure A) to a minimum pressure of [ ] psf .

There must be no permanent deformation, delaminat ion, or o ther deter iorat ion.

1 .2 .1.3 Ful l scale or intermediate scale f i re tes t

Conduct wal l f i re tes t using apparatus , specimen, performance cr i ter ia , and procedure in accordance with NFPA 285 when required by ICC IBC 2603.5.5.

The fol lowing requirements must be met :

a. No vert ical spread of f lame with in core of panel f rom one s tory to the next .

b . No f lame spread over the exter ior surface.

c . No vert ical f lame spread over the inter ior surface from one s tory to the next .

d . No s ignif icant la teral spread of f lame from compartment of f i re or igin to adjacent spaces.
