Question USG Response
Appendix A, pp 1-3
Can the USG provide additional descriptions of the mobile storage system?
additional descriptions: under mezzanine clear height 7' 10" to lowest obsturction minimum 4 mobile carriages mezzanine columns every three carriages.
The carriages will house the collapsible contaiers directly on the carriage.
Carriages and raised floor cannot exceed the 7'10" clear height see revised drawing.
Appendix A, p 2
The USG requests 9 collapsible storage containers, but this quantity won't fill the number of mobile storage units specified. Can the USG please advise if this is an error?
Only an additional 9 will be needed, as the on base personnel have reserves that can be used
NMR207_01
, p 1
Can the USG please advise what the single locations in the mobile solution racking (outlined in blue)? What needs to be provided?
the single locations marked in blue are stationary segments that are not required to be moveable. Only the ones with handles are required to be moveable. See picture A.
NMR207_01
, p 1
Can the USG please advise if this is on a mezzanine?
Under a mezzanine?
under a mezzanine. The stationary segments help avoid the columns that are present.
NMR207_01
, p 1
Can the USG please elaborate on the elevated floor?
the elevated floor prevents the need to cut a channel into the building floor. The elevated floor is simly needed to raise the base flooringvup to the railing height. As long as the flooring meets the minimum specifications and would be able to pass general testing, then it will be acceptable.
NMR207_01
, p 1
What are the dimensions of this elevated floor?
the elevated floor has the requirement of being flush with the height of the rails. The length and width are resticted by the space available. The estimated size for the raised floor is 20' x 70' x height of rails used.
NMR207_01
, p 1
As the drawing stands, it doesn’t look like there is enough room for a person to the aisle ways leave a minimum clearance of three feet. The smaller gaps between the carriages without handles are gaps to allow for the mezzanine columns enter the mobile racking system
Cover PD, p
Does the USG want permits pulled in advance of contract award?
no this is not required or necessary.
Appendix A 3.2.1
States each carriage shown on the drawing shall have a crank mechanism, but several of the carriages are not shown with a crank or marked as stationary. Its assumed the ones without cranks are stationary? It also isn't clear why the crank is shown on one side of the carriage instead of in the middle for a typical back to back carriage. Is there a purpose for this?
the cranks are shown on the mobile carriages only, so any carriage without is stationary.
Appendix A 3.2.3
Structure and installation one bullet point mentions face panels covering the entire width and height of the shelving and that they should be fastened to the shelving, but there is no appendix for shelving, and nothing on the drawing showing shelving? With a required capacity of 12,000 pounds per carriage I would think it should be pallet rack these bins sit on?
if face panels are needed/ provided then they must meet those specifications. In this case, we are not specifying shelves so there are none. The collapsible bins shall be place directly on the carriages.
Appendix A 3.2.3 the bullet point for the elevated flooring specifies a metal or FR plywood floor but does not state the type of metal required (assuming diamond plate?) or if a flooring material needs to be put on top of the FR plywood
The spec requires steel for fire retardant plywood, that is capable of supporting a capacity of 75 pounds per square foot.
Whatever type of metal/ flooring you provide must meet this spec. We are not requiring flooring on top of the plywood, but there is a reliability testing phase with this system so damages and obvious floor. (Normally these are required to be painted or some type of flooring be laid on top like vinyl) issues could fail it requiring additional corrections.
Drawing
NMR-207-01
seems to depict the mobile is going under a mezzanine.
If this is the case, we need to know the clear height under the mezzanine and where the columns are.
The mobile aisle is laid out in a way to avoid the columns, and the clear height is 7’ 9”. During post award, an eyes on visit will be held where more detail can be seen
