Maxwell AFB, AL Question Set 2 9 July 2024
Question/Answer Response:
1. RE: Cover 3.1.9. – “run approx. 140’ of 240v power from preexis ng power source” I am not seeing any source or destination on the drawing for this run – what is required at the destination / termination? Is the breaker at the source now? Or am I responsible for it?
Drawing AMX208-01 shows clarified locations for the power source and destination. 240v power hookups are needed at the destination. The breaker is at the source.
2. RE: Cover 3.1.4. – pilferable cages – I need more defini on for the cage sizes and dims – what I believe are the (2) cages on the drawing the dims cannot be read – there are notes about “exis ng rack” that is not clarified on the drawing
Drawing AMX208-01 has easier to read dimensions in additions, the height of the cage is approximately 24 feet and is not enclosed.
3. RE: Drawing in general – dims make no sense – 9’ ??” tall MDC’s?? 4’ 10” wide?? – 13’ 3” tall
MDC’s??? 6’ ???” wide??
The drawing had an issue during exporting, not sure what happened or when it happened but the one on Amendment 0002 is the corrected one.
4. Cover Purchase Descrip on 3.1.4 Pilferable Fence:
a. On Drawing AMX208-1, please iden fy the loca on of the exis ng cage walls.
AMX208-01 shows in bolded black and labeled the areas where the exis ng cage is.
b. Please provide pictures of the exis ng cage walls for match purposes.
Pictures a ached in Amendment 0002.
c. Does the cage require a roof structure?
It does not.
5. RE: Cover 3.1.6. & 3.1.7. – appendix calls out dims shown on drawing AMX208-01 – dims on drawing are not accurate / unreadable.
The drawing had an issue during exporting, not sure what happened or when it happened but Amendment 0002 provides the corrected one.
6. RE: Appendix A – Pallet rack
a. 3.1. - Type “B” rack calls out for “corrosive resistant” sheet metal on 3 sides – please define “corrosive resistant”. Per other verbiage in the solicita on may I assume that galvanized would be accepted? Also – not that it’s my business – but why do you want corrosive resistant metal on the sides when you are not requiring it on the beams or frames? Also – how do you want the metal panels a ached to the rack system? If a ached directly to the frames and / or beams that will restrict the adjustability of the shelves.
Galvanized would be acceptable. This is customer requested and the chemicals are not very volatile. The plates can be attached by any fasteners and should be done in a way that limits its effects on the racks’ shelves, but if unavoidable, that’s fine.
b. Type “A” – drawing shows 14’ tall frames – descrip on shows 16’ tall frames – which is required?
14’ frames are required.
c. Type “B” – drawing dims show 17’ tall x 5’ 11” frames with ?153.75” beams?? – Are these non-standard sizes required?
See corrected dimensions on Drawing AMX208-01.
7. RE: Appendix “B” – Can lever rack –
a. There is no requirement for anchoring – please confirm this is the request to quote.
All cantilever racks must be anchored with anchoring bolts.
b. Type “B” dims on drawing show 21’ 4” tall towers – 6’ 1 ¼” arms – appendix does not show these sizes.
See corrected dimensions on Drawing AMX208-01.
8. RE: Appendix “C” – MDC’s –
a. 3.2.2.9. calls out for ESD mats in the drawers – which are also required to have par ons / dividers. Not sure how this can be accomplished – I do not believe the mats would fit under the par on system?
The mats only need to be 1/8 inch thick, they currently use them on site. Any esd standard spec from leading manufactures such as Lyons, Stanley Vidmar, Grainger, etc. would also suffice.
b. 3.2.4. has info for a shelf – what shelf? Where?
The shelf is referencing the top of the modular cabinet.
