About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Hyperspectral Light Camera System that AFIT/ENP requires to support student research projects and laboratory classes. The system must operate in the visible and short-wave infrared regime and generate hyperspectral images consisting of 150+ unique spectral bands. The key requirements include a spectral range of 400-1000 nm, resolution of at least 400x400, frame rate greater than 1 fps, 12-bit digital resolution, operating temperature of 0-50 degrees C, weight less than 2 kg, and the ability to operate in a field environment. The deliverables include the Ultris X20 Light Field Camera, Cubert CUVIS HSI Software, a software development kit, and required accessories. The contractor must deliver the system 12 weeks after contract award, provide a 2-year warranty, and conduct training. The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation for the Hyperspectral Light Camera System, with a response deadline of 15 April 2024 and NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing).

Statement of Work For Hyperspectral Light Camera System

Title: Hyperspectral Light Camera System Document Date: 3/20/2024 This document covers the purchase, installation, service, warranty, training, and commissioning of a Short-Wave polarimetric Imaging System to be implemented at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT)

1. Scope: This document covers the purchase of a Hyperspectral Light Camera System that can take pictures and video in the SWIR spectral range.

Background: AFIT/ENP requires a hyperspectral light camera system to support student research projects and laboratory classes. The system operates in the visible and short-wave infrared regime and generates hyperspectral images consisting of 150+ unique spectral band. This data allows you to isolate objects with unique spectral signatures such as aircraft plumes, camouflage or chemical spills. This camera, and its associated software, represent a significant advancement in technology level compared to AFIT's current multispectral imaging capabilities. These systems are key for many remote sensing applications, including target/camouflage detection, disturbed earth detection to locate IEDs, environmental & effluent monitoring, and ground-truth data collections for other national assets. Previous AFIT experiments in these areas have relied on instruments that are far slower, and incapable of measuring signatures in these spectral bands. This additional capability would be both advanced enough to enable new research, but also simple enough to use in AFIT / ENP's OENG 616 lab. The streamlined software interface and intuitive built-in calibration will enable students to quit fighting against antiquated instruments and focus on learning the physics. Although AFIT has for years enjoyed a reputation as the "go-to" government agency for sophisticated infrared measurements, AFIT has lacked any capability that can compete with this instrument when it comes to speed, size, and spectral bands and resolution. This combination of attributes represents a new capability that will immediately enable new defense-centered research and improve the results of on-going projects.
