About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the repair of two AMETEK High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors belonging to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The detectors, model GEM-F5930P4 and Detective-EX, require complex repair and restoration of proper operation due to various issues.

The SOW specifies that the contractor will receive the two detectors from AFIT, conduct the necessary repairs, and return the repaired detectors within 26 weeks of contract award. The contractor will be responsible for transportation, storage, and final onsite set up at AFIT's location. The repaired detectors will be covered by a 1-year warranty. Payment will be made upon completion of all SOW requirements on a net 30 basis through the Wide Area Work Flow system.

Statement of Work For High Purity Germanium Detector Repair Title: High Purity Germanium (HPGe) Detector Repairs Document Date: 24 Jan 2024

1. Scope: This document covers the repair, warranty, and commissioning of AMETEK HPGe detectors model GEM-F5930P4, serial number 47-TP22319B and model Detective-EX, serial number 596, to be used at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).

1.1 Background: High Purity Germanium (HPGe) detectors are used in research to identify and characterize radioactive isotopes. AFIT's Engineering Physics (ENP) department has procured multiple AMETEK HPGe detectors to support student leaning objectives and accomplish thesis and sponsored research. HPGe detector model GEM-F5930P4, Serial Number 47-TP22319B, after attempting to bring the HPGe detector down to temperature, moisture was observed on the outer cover. HPGe detector model Detective-EX, Serial Number 596 has a high incoming count rate due to noise and is unable to complete a background scan. To resolve these issues, the detectors need to be serviced and repaired. These detectors are used to support educational requirements in NENG650, NENG612, and NENG 899 courses.
