About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document issued by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) on May 11, 2026, addressing inquiries regarding a high-frequency spindle procurement. The contracting activity is the Operational Contracting Division at AFLCMC/PZIBB located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
The spindle will be used to drive a custom high-speed test machine for evaluating turbine engine components. The Government requires a cartridge-style spindle with a 150mm outer diameter that integrates into the existing test configuration. The spindle will be coupled to the test machine using a custom flexible coupling. The document references that questions regarding the Variable Speed Drive and Oil Mist System requirements, as well as specifications for the flex coupling, are addressed in the Statement of Work (SOW). The document confirms that duty-free entry provisions are applicable to this procurement and will be administered through the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), with the applicable clause outlining all required procedural steps. Duty-free processing is only applicable to the awarded contractor.
