FA8601-21-R-0024 Industrial Water Treatment Site Visit Questions and Answers
1. Do you have access to water consumption for the cooling towers and boilers? No, depends on the load.
2. Do you have system volume on the loops? The government will provide that info
(approximate) to the awarded contractor.
3. Can you identify which cooling towers are for comfort cooling vs process. Please refer to the
PWS. All year round towers are for process.
4. Is the water treater require to provide salt for the water softeners and if so how much salt is used a year? Yes, awarded contractor is required to provide salt for softeners. Amount used is dependent on water usage.
5. How many water softeners are serviced? Refer to PWS equipment list
6. The PWS briefly addresses running dip slide tests for measuring total bacteria for adjusting biocide in cooling towers. Do you have a Water Management Plan in place that specifically outlines Legionella control measures? WPAFB has no specific plan for Legionella control measures in the PWS.
7. Can you clarify if we are responsible for both sulfuric acid and bleach costs for the cooling systems. We understand the usage, but we were unclear if that needs to be included in our costs. Yes
8. What is the makeup of the water at Wright-Patterson AFB?
Well water from several different aquifers.
9. What is the condensate return percentage? Depends on the load.
10. Do some places have acid towers?
Yes. Refer to the PWS appendix B
11. Does Wright Patterson AFB own the equipment?
Yes.
12. What is the pressure leaving the Area B Steam Plant?
150psi
13. Who is responsible for chemical delivery?
Contractor is responsible for endpoint delivery.
14. Will a brief summary of the conditions of the various equipment be provided? No, CE owns all equipment.
15. Is batch feeding required or can the contractor switch to neat chemical for direct feed?
CE owns all the equipment, any enhancements/modifications of the systems would have to be agreed upon by the government and awarded contractor to the benefit of the government. (i.e. cost savings)
16. In building 301240, can a hot water loop filtration system be used?
CE owns all the equipment, any enhancements/modifications of the systems would have to be agreed upon by the government and awarded contractor to the benefit of the government. (i.e. cost savings)
