Specifications for DSC & TGA Machines

1 Auto DSC Differential Scanning Calorimeter with Auto sampler and Mass Flow Control Used for the studying of phase transitions, such as melting, glass transitions, or exothermic decompositions. It measures the difference in the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of a sample and reference as a function of temperature extremely accurately:

- Operates on(120V / 60Hz)

- Has sensitivity equal to or less than 1μW.

- Operating temperature range of -170 to 725 °C or better.

- Self-calibrating auto sampler with a minimum of 50-position that also allows unattended operation of the DSC over the full temperature range of the instrument.

- Controlled heating (0.01 to 100 degrees C/min) and cooling (0.01 to 100degrees C/min) rates

- Operating software that offers complete experimental controls and be able to schedule automatic calibration, verification, and diagnostic tests on the machine. The software must offer comprehensive real time and other types of auto-analysis, the ability to create up to 20 simultaneous curve overlay plots, generate customer report using Microsoft Word and Excel templates, spreadsheet text files, graphics files, and the ability to export ASCII data files. The operating and data analysis software must be compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, or XP.

2 Refrigerated Cooling System;

- Operates on(120V / 60Hz):

- Permits programmed or ballistic cooling in DSC operation over the temperature range from

(-40 °C to 400 °C).

3 Pressure Regulator, for pressure regulation of purge gasses.

4 Gas Dryer for removal of trace moisture in purge gases.

5 Ethernet Switch for communication with computer.

6 Press and Die Sets Kit: The kit must have at least one press, four (4) die sets, and one box each of

Lids (100 / box). The press must be able to crimp an airtight encapsulation of a wide variety of materials.

7 Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA) with Mass Flow Control Used to determine characteristics of materials such as Sample Volatility, Moisture Content, Oxidation Stability, Decomposition Temperature and Flammability Studies. It measures the changes in weight in relation to change in temperature extremely precisely and accurately:

- Operates on (120V / 60Hz)

- Auto-switching dual range microbalance (0 - 200 mg and 0 - 1 gram).

- Automated pan loading and furnace movementes

- Scanning rates from 0.1 to 50°C/min minimum

- Temperature range 20°C to 1000°C

- Software controlled, dual mass flow controllers with automated gas switching.

- An accessory kit that contains at minimum platinum sample pans, calibration and test materials and tools 8 Evolved Gas Analysis (EGA) Furnace, a transfer line that allows gases evolved in the heating of a sample in a TGA thermal analyzer to be transferred to FT-IR instrument for identification or quantitation. EGA must be designed in a way that renders ultra-high sensitivity for detection of the evolved gases.

9 Includes shipping, installation and one year warranty on parts and labor and formal training for two individuals at contractor’s facilities.
