Requirements for Flatbed Plotter Updated: 10 SEP 2012

The government requires a flatbed plotter with a vacuum hold-down kit. Below are the requirements.

1. The requirements are for a flatbed plotter (also referred to as vinyl cutters) with a vacuum pump hold-down kit for building 654, room 150. It should work with AutoCAD. The plotter will be used in the fabrication of conductive patterns that elicit specific electromagnetic responses. The plotter's size and flat-bed configuration facilitate the use of large, structurally stiff substrates not suitable for vertical plotters.

a. Flatbed plotter to accommodate rigid/thick media

b. Vertical plotters that feed the media cannot handle the media being used and will not be considered

c. Must have both cutting and plotting capabilities

d. Vacuum pump kit to hold down media

e. Cutting/plotting area: width: 40" - 50", depth: 30" - 40"

f. Mechanical Resolution: 0.0025 mm or better (HP-GL standard)

g. Programmable Resolution: 0.0025 mm or better (HP-GL standard)

h. Uses water-base fiber-tip pens

i. Ink jet plotters cannot be considered because the inks in the cartridges cannot be changed

j. Must be compatible with AutoCAD

2. The installation of the flatbed plotter shall include unpacking of system components/accessories, set up in designated lab space, connection of all components/accessories, and successful demonstration of system performance specifications. All costs associated with installation shall be included with purchase of flatbed plotter.

3. The flatbed plotter will come with an operations manual.
