AUTOMATED ELECTROLESS COPPER PLATING LINE

TECHNICAL CHECKLIST

Note: These items represent some of the evaluation factors to be used in determining the technical acceptability of an individual proposal. Please note exceptions in the space below the each item, and if possible note reference to the specific portion of your proposal which addresses that item.

YES NO Evaluation Factor

1. Will the plating system be constructed from durable polypropylene, with stainless steel fasteners and a framework of corrosion resistant steel?

2. Will all pressure piping be Schedule 80 PVC or stronger?

3. Will all drain piping be S-40 PVC or stronger?

4. Will all liquid valves on the system be ball type valves equipped with viton seals?

5. Will the baskets used to convey the panels be large enough to transport 8 panels ( ½” on center) which are 18” x 24”, and constructed such that one panel as small as 10”x10” may be conveyed equally well throughout the entire line?

6. Will baskets be able to transport without damage, folding or bending, panels as thin as 0.003 inch and as thick as 0.140 inch?

7. Will the baskets be constructed of stainless steel? (Per Statement of Work, under Material Handling, the government must approve basket design prior to construction, and 6 baskets are required for initial installation/setup.)

8. Will the hoist be designed such that all placement of ventilation ducts, process piping and electrical conduit will be confined within the hoist footprint?

9. Will the hoist be constructed of corrosion resistant steel and capable of supporting the weight and proper conveyance of six fully loaded baskets?

YES NO Evaluation Factor

10. Will the hoist be constructed of corrosion resistant steel and capable of supporting the weight and proper conveyance of six fully loaded baskets?

11. As specified in paragraph 2, Statement of Work, the line shall have 2 electroless copper stations.

Will each of these stations consist of a single cell tank, constructed of polypropylene, and be equipped with an overflow weir through which the solution is pumped through a filter bag?

12. Will the electroless copper cells also be provided with an air sparger for customer hookup to low pressure air? As required by statement of work, air shall be sparged into both process area and filter area of the tank.

13. Will the dryer utilize electric heat with a rapid recovery design, and only allow operation when a basket is in the dryer?

14. Will the dryer be fabricated from stainless steel?

15. Will dryer motors be located externally to assure cool motor operation?

16. Will rinse tanks feature counter flow rinsing, with air agitation, and computer controlled valves to minimize usage of water? (System shall be programmable such that water will come on when baskets enter rinse tank, and turns off when basket leaves rinse tank.)

17. Will all tanks be constructed of ½” polypropylene unless heated over 130F, and all heated tanks (over 130F) be constructed of ¾” polypropylene? Refer to Para 2 in SOW.

18. Will the tank size exactly meet the dimensions as specified in the STATION para of the SOW, including the note?

YES NO Evaluation Factor

19. Will all tanks be constructed with drains and valves, and bottoms which slope to the drain for easy solution removal?

20. Refer to filtration paragraph in SOW. Will all filtration devices (including outlet eductors) as specified be in conformance to the filtration paragraph?

21. Will all process tanks be equipped with polypropylene filter pumps, sized as specified in the Pumps paragraph of the SOW?

22. Will the entire line be equipped with mechanical agitation in the form of a work rod along the length (excluding dryer area), which is constructed of stainless steel, and have a stroke length of +/- 1 inch with a frequency adjustable 0-8 rpm?

23. Will all tanks be plumbed for air sparging, with individually controlled shut off valves?

24. Will all process tanks have solution agitation as provided by filter pumps and mechanical movement of bar?

25. Refer to paragraph entitled “Vibration” in SOW. Will the process tanks as listed be equipped with pneumatic vibration, controlled with a pressure regulator and programmable by PLC with on and off cycles?

26. Material and power requirements for each heated process must meet these precise specifications. Will the vendor provide heaters as exactly specified in the process heat paragraph of the SOW? Refer to Process Heat paragraph in SOW.

YES NO Evaluation Factor

27. Will the vendor provide continuous ventilation the entire length of the plating line as directed by The Industrial Ventilation Handbook?

28. Will there be a transition provided for Government hookup to supplied plant ventilation system?

29. 29. Will appropriate drip covers be provided between tanks to assist the ventilation system’s ducted air path?

30. Will the system feature a programmable logic controller with a touch screen operator interface?

31. Will the touch screen provide complete control over all components?

32. Will alarm conditions, audible and visual, be displayed as they occur, along with corrective action information?

33. Will electrical components on the machine be enclosed in non-metallic enclosures for corrosion resistance?

34. Will temperature controllers be digital, with audible and visual alarms?

35. Will liquid level controls be float type, with audible and visual alarms? Per SOW, liquid level controls are required for all heated tanks.

YES NO Evaluation Factor

36. Will the entire system fit within a 42 feet x 6.5 feet by 9.5 feet high footprint?

37. Will the utilities requirements as specified in the Utilities paragraph of the SOW be met in full?

38. Will a full documentation package to include a system manual, control synopsis, piping schematic, layout drawing, electrical schematics, maintenance schedules, troubleshooting guides, bill of material and time way charts be provided by the vendor?

39. Will the Government be kept informed during the design and manufacturing phases to ensure the project is progressing as expected?

40. Will full training of all system components be accomplished by the vendor for at least 4 Government personnel?

41. Will full installation by the vendor be accomplished following the Section 3 of the SOW?

42. Will qualification testing be accomplished to the satisfaction of the Government by the vendor using Government circuit board panels and chemistry to verify proper operation of all controllers, alarms, hoist actions, mechanical actions, ventilation, sparging systems, and every other feature of the electroless plating system?
