Question #1: This product is extremely expensive and the availability of this product takes much longer to get from suppliers and is limited by suppliers. The spec presently being used on the last two 5 year IDIQ contracts is as follows:

Page 2 – Materials

Fed Spec RR-F-191, Part I, Type I, 1.2 ounces per square foot coating, and shall be 9-gauge wire woven in a 2-inch mesh. Fabric height shall be 7’ and 0” and shall be continuous construction top to bottom. Splicing to obtain desired height will not be allowed.

Government Response: Specification requirements shall reflect change in “Steel Wire Fabric” requirement. Should read: “Weight of Metallic (Zinc) Coating: ASTM A 392, Type II, Class 1, 1.2 oz./sq. ft. (366 g/sq/m).”

Question #2: Page 01000-30

3.3 Industrial Fence Framing

Need clarification on size of fence posts depending on height of fence?

Government Response: The size (diameter) vs the height shall be in accordance with Specification Section 02821, Paragraph 2.3, A, 4; Post Diameter and Thickness: According to ASTM F 1043.

Question #3:

3.9 Barbed Wire

Current contract calls for 4 round barbs instead of 2 round barbs.

Government Response: The Specification, Section 02821, Paragraph 2.9, Barbed Wire states (paraphrased)….. “2-point round barbs spaced not more than 4 inches…” This should not be confused with Paragraph 2.10 (same specification) for “Barbed Tape”..

Question #4:

How do you want pricing submitted?

Government Response: Submit your overall prices on the solicitation and include the Schedule B with the price breakdown for each item.

Question #5:

Fencing has been increasing over the last couple of years; will there be anything in the contract that will allow for increasing costs?

Government Response: Currently there are no clauses in the contract that will allow for price adjustments.
