About this file

This is a Solicitation Amendment for "72 OSS Tower Window Shades" issued by the 72nd Operations Support Squadron (72 OSS), a U.S. Air Force organization. The amendment provides detailed technical specifications and clarifications for tapered window shade installations. The shades feature a tapered design (wider at the top than bottom) that wrap around tubes mounted to the ceiling via bracket systems. Measurements are provided for both primary and secondary shades across six window locations (13, 14, 15, 16, 19, and 20), with top measurements ranging from approximately 65 3/8" to 67 1/2" and bottom measurements ranging from approximately 57 1/2" to 59 3/4". The amendment includes photographic documentation of bracket mounting systems, pull cord attachment mechanisms, cleat and pulley systems for securing shades in the down position, and installation examples showing the shades deployed across tower windows.

The amendment modifies the original requirement from "20 primary and 20 secondary shades" to "20 primary shades and 10 secondary shades that extend across the entirety of two windows instead of covering only one." This change allows secondary shades to span multiple window openings rather than being limited to single-window coverage. The solicitation emphasizes that primary shades are consistently longer than their corresponding secondary shades, and includes visual references identifying "Primary," "Secondary," "Left/Right/Center Bracket Mount," and "Top Measurement" images to guide contractors on construction and installation requirements.

Text version

Solicitation Amendment “72 OSS Tower Window Shades”

The shades are tapered (wider at the top than the bottom). Pictures are included to illustrate how they work together (see “Primary” and “Secondary” images). The measurements I listed on the PDF are from the tops and they are the lengths of the tube that the shade is wrapped around. I’ve included images of the ends of the tubes and how they attach to the ceiling (see “Left/Right/Center Bracket Mount” pics).

The measurements are taken from the top are from the left white tip of the tube to the right white tip (see “Top Measurement” pic). The top of the shade (inserted in the tube) will be slightly smaller than the measurement given. The only clear consistency of the top measurements is that the Primary shade is longer than its secondary shade.

Primary top: Secondary top:

13 (L) & 14 (R): 66 5/8” & 65 ½” 13A (L) & 14A (R): 65 3/8” & 64 7/8”

15 (L) & 16 (R): 67 ½” & 65 ½” 15A (L) & 16A (R): 66 ½” & 64 ¼”

19 (Left) & 20 (Right): 66 ¾” & 65 ½” 19A (L) & 20A (R): 66” & 64 ¼”

Bottom Measurements ______________________

Primary bottom: Secondary bottom:

13 (L) & 14 (R): 59 ¾” & 59” 13A (L) & 14A (R): 58 ¾” & 58”

15 (L) & 16 (R): 59 ½” & 58 ½” 15A (L) & 16A (R): 58 ½” & 57 ½”

19 (Left) & 20 (Right): 59 ½” & 59 3/8” 19A (L) & 20A (R): 58 ½” & 59”

Additionally, attached is a pic of how the pull cord attaches to the bottom of the shade and the various cleat & pulley systems used to secure the shade in the down position.
