About this file

This is a Memorandum for Record from the Department of the Air Force documenting item specifications for a federal equipment purchase.

The 76 Maintenance Squadron (76 MXSG) at Tinker Air Force Base is requesting procurement of one portable Handheld XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) Spectrometer for alloy analysis. The instrument must analyze 80 elements ranging from Magnesium through Uranium on the Periodic Table and provide enhanced performance for light element analysis (Mg, Al, Si, P, and S) without requiring helium purge or vacuum systems. The X-ray tube specifications require a minimum of 50kV and 200 µA with a Silver anode, and analysis time should be approximately 1-2 seconds for most applications. The instrument shall include two high-performance Li-ion batteries with VAC battery charger and AC adapter, be calibrated for General Metals, and feature two integrated CCD cameras for capturing images and recording measurement positions. Default alloy libraries must be based on SAE, AISI, ASTM, AA, DIN, and GB standards, and the device must incorporate latest manufacturer design and safety features per the National Electrical Code (NEC). The equipment must be able to connect to a computer for downloading scans and results, with included computer software for managing scans and results data. The point of contact is Ra'mon Davison at (405) 734-5030 or ramon.davison.1@us.af.mil.
