MEMORANDUM FOR PZIM

FROM: OC-ALC/OBCA for 76 SMXG

SUBJECT: Request for Brand Name Purchase S 19-104 Joy Signal Brute Cables

I. 76 SMXG/556 request the purchase of the following item (s):

6 August 2019

Ten (10) units of CB140-CB140-790363-024 128 Signal Joy Brute Cable, PN #9-906608

2. 76th SMXG was tasked to procure or produce the Test Program Set Hardware for Avionics Testing ("the Hardware"), which will support . SMXG Test Program Set (TPS) Research and Development (R&D) was performed in house with overhead funds. Other brand name patch cords were tested during R&D. SMXG found the Joy Signal SSI patch cord were capable of providing the signal integrity and density needed. Joy Signal brand name was approved for use and specified in all relevant ITA designs to our external contractors.

3. The 556 SMXS/MXDPBF is now manufacturing Interface Test Adapters (ITA) with Joy Signal Patchords. Carriers and Brute Cables. 556 SMXS/MXDPBF requires the following part numbers to build ITAs: SSl-06-06-51 -036, SSl-01-00-53-036. SSC-6-75. 9-905832. CB-140.

and SS 1-0 I -VPC6 IO I 03 130-09-036.

4. The 76 SMXG's market research did not reveal any other brands that were cross compatible with the functionality required. Other manufacturers parts would require modifications. a complete system redesign. and the scrapping of all current stock. This would cost This is not cost effective as it would produce duplication of costs not expected to be recovered through competition.
