About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) with detailed questions and answers regarding a forklift procurement for the Air Force Medical Command. The RFI seeks specific technical details about a 13,000 lb capacity forklift, including fork pocket dimensions (inside 69", outside 97"), shelter storage height requirements (door height 108"), and weight lifting capacity considerations. Key specifications include the need to safely lift an 8,000 lb ISO shelter to a 4-foot height, with clarification that a 13K forklift would be suitable, and confirmation that the government intends to purchase rather than rent the equipment. The RFI is part of a pre-solicitation process for the A5T Forklift opportunity, with response deadlines of June 20, 2025 (Q&A) and June 30, 2025 (RFI responses), targeting the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Installation and Mission Support Center Installation Contracting Agency.

Text version
1. What are the actual dimensions of the fork pockets inside dimension and outside as detailed in photo below? Inside dimensions: 69”, outside dimensions: 97”
2. Does the lowered height actually need to be under 100”, or can it be taller? We store the forklift in a shelter that’s door height is 108”
3. Please address each of the items below regarding the ISO shelter, said to weigh 8,000 lb to a max of 15,000 lbs.
a. Would you need 15,000 lb capacity? We can get by with a 13K forklift. The ISO shelter is 8,000lbs. and we must be able to safely lift to a height of 4 feet to load on a tractor trailer.
b. Is that capacity at a 48” load center or half of 8’ when picking up the ISO shelter
1. If it is at a 48” Load Center and 15000 lb is needed, we would estimate that a roughly 26,000 lb capacity fork lift would be needed to properly lift this load. The max weight of the ISO shelter is 8000 lbs., not 15K.
4. To confirm, we understand that you are looking to purchase this forklift, not rent it?
Yes, we need to purchase. A daily rental 365 days/year is not cost e ective. This equipment is used daily.
