About this file

This document appears to be a description of the salient features for BARS Body Armor, which is the subject of a federal contract opportunity. The key details are:

The body armor must have a lightweight, stable harness with a padded interior, vertical and horizontal plate adjustability, unrestricted chest expansion, quick attachment/detachment of plates, emergency quick release, interchangeable load-out capability, coverage of front/back/sides, weight transferring system, and compatibility with soft armor inserts. The plate pouches must be independent/removable, compatible with standard ballistic inserts, and sized properly to prevent shifting. The cummerbund must have the ability to configure with additional components, a drop leg holster, adjustable/locking buckle, elastic straps, weight transfer compatibility, lumbar support, and soft armor insert compatibility. The soft armor inserts must be sized and shaped for the plate pouches, with front/back/side inserts to fit behind the armor plates.

The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation notice for the purchase of body armor with the listed features. This is not a request for quotation, but all responsible sources may submit capability statements that will be evaluated by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Installation and Mission Support Center Installation Contracting Agency. Responses are due by the date/time listed in the notice.
