About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file related to a solicitation for a cryomagnet system by the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). The key details are:
The solicitation (Solicitation Number FA700025USAFACRYO) is for the USAFA to purchase a dewar and cryomagnet system. The cryomagnet must meet salient characteristics including reaching a temperature of 1.5K or less, having a superconducting solenoid magnet with a field of at least 5T, a bore of 45mm or larger, magnetic field homogeneity of less than 0.5% in the central region, a power supply of at least 60A, quench protection, and a temperature controller with He gas condensate recirculation system and sample positioner probe. The Q&A clarifies that the bore will be vertical and the 45mm specification is for the warm bore.

Questions and Answers
Question 1: Is the bore of the magnet to be vertical or horizontal?
The bore will be vertical.
Question 2: Is the 45mm bore a specification for the “warm bore” (room temperature access) ?
45mm is for the warm bore.
Question 3: What part of the magnet needs to be 1.5K and lower? Is the region to be accessible while the magnet is in operation and cold?
We want the sample to be cooled to 1.5K and the magnet being able to produce a magnetic field at the sample’s location.
