Q&A

1. Are we to embroider the airman's name on each jacket? The PD and Letter of Exception for the Jacket are silent on this subject, however it is shown in the illustration on the Letter of Exception for the Jacket.

Answer: No - names will be sewn locally by the Cadet Tailor Shop.

2. Can you provide an electronic file (JPEG) for the USAFA logo for the embroidery on the Jacket? The Letter of Exception for the jacket states on page 2: "standard sample may be obtained from the contracting activity."

Answer: Yes, we can provide an electronic sample to the awardee.

3. Is certification required to respond to this solicitation?

Answer: Certification is not required.

4. Is it required that our certification number be printed on the labeling? The letter of exception for the pants deletes this requirement from the pants, however the Letter of Exception for the Jackets doesn't delete it (see 3.5.10).

Answer: No, certification number is not required on the labels.

5. The solicitation does not require a PDM to be submitted with the response the solicitation. It does require a FAT at 30 days after award. Can you confirm there is no PDM required to respond?

Answer: A PDM is not required. A first article (sample) will be required from the contractor who receives the award.

6. Can you provide a list of NSN's for the applicable sizes?

Answer: We do not have NSN’s for the Academy as these requirements are unique for the cadets. We will have NSN’s for the bar codes that are strictly used for the Air Force Academy. These are not true NSN’s.

7. Can we get patterns for this item? The PD's for the pants and jacket both state at the bottom of page 11 that "standard patterns.... shall be furnished by the government in AccuMark electronic format." Example of why this is important: There are side pockets on the pants in the PD. The Letter of Exception for the pants does not remove them; however, the illustration on the first page of the Letter of Exception for the pants does not show pockets.

Answer: As this is basically an Air Force active duty uniform, patterns are available from Wright Patt AFB. Please contact Gina Rice at 937-255-6073 (gina.rice@wpafb.af.mil) or Deb Klensch at 937-255-4919 (debra.klensch@wpafb.af.mil).

Side note: pockets are required on the pants. The LOE is only for the screen printing design - it is not meant to modify the patterns/designs/measurements of the running suits.
