2 Ea. 10 Drawer 55” Toolboxes salient features

a. 1 Each locking 10 drawer 55” toolbox with tools etched with identifier W5MXDSM01

b. 1 Each locking 10 drawer 55” toolbox with tools etched with identifier W5MXDSM02

c. Each draw requires two layers of foam. Black on top and red on bottom. Black foam is cut to fit each tool.

d. See attachment “Salient Toolbox and Tool List”. The tools on the list are to be divided equally between the two toolboxes

TOOL TYPE AND QUANTITY

Must provide the exact tool type and quantity listed on the attachment. Tool arrangement within drawers must be laid out so that like items are grouped together i.e. all flathead screwdrivers grouped together. Tool arrangement within drawers must be laid out so that interdependent tools are within the same drawer i.e. 3/8" ratchets in the same drawer as 3/8" drive sockets.

WARRANTY SUPPORT REQUIREMENT

Need support that provides lifetime on-site warranty verification to repair or replacement. Representative must be able for timely warranty support. Must be able to verify warranty replacement and either replace or repair the tool on the spot or be able to rapidly send a replacement or the original repaired tool back to the customer. Government will not accept a vendor that requires them to mail tools in for warranty support, or one that requires them to bring broken tools to them for warranty support.

TOOL IDENTIFICATION/ETCHING

Each individual tool, and tool cases for small tools, requires laser etching of the World Wide Identification (WWID) which will be supplied by the Customer. This marking needs to be clear and readable, and not affect function of the tool and not cause corrosion problems. Etching must be legible and have a long wear life'. Etching will not be applied to the shafts of screwdrivers, calibrated measuring surfaces, and impact surfaces. Etching must not adversely affect the chrome plating on plated tools. When etching on handling surfaces, etchings must not present an injury hazard to the hand.

GENERAL TOOL SPECIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS

Wrenches, sockets, and ratchets will have tough, durable, nickel-chrome plating to help protect against corrosion and provide for easy cleaning. No industrial finishes except for allen wrench sets and safety wire pliers. Hand use sockets and wrench box ends will have smallest outside diameter possible to provide clearance in limited access situations. Ratchets constructed to seal in permanent lubrication and seal out dust, dirt, moisture and other contaminants. All pliers and side cutters must have cushion grips to prevent hand slippage. Screwdriver tips must have vapor blasted tips to prevent slippage fasteners. Handles must also have a comfortable grip (no fluted handles) with a rounded crown. Handles must be of a highly visible color for quick location of tool. All wrenches, nut drivers and sockets, must have flank-drive or similar. This feature applies pressure to the sides of hex nuts and bolt heads to prevent rounding of corners of the hardware. Allen Wrench Sets, metric and standard, need to have a compact durable index with individual holes for each wrench. The holes must have a retention mechanism built into the case to prevent wrenches from falling out. The case must have the sizes of the wrenches printed over the corresponding hole on case. Adjustable wrenches must have a highly visible cushion grip for easy location and prevent hand slippage. No wood handles on hammers or mallets if possible.

BASE LAYER BACKER MATERIAL

Hard Back

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Polyethylene 75-99%, proprietary additives 01-25% Thickness: 1/8" Density: Minimum 60 lb.

BACKER MACIDNING CAPABILITY:

Backer material can be router cut; water jet cut or die cut and maintain the physical properties required to adequately meet varying retention requirements of different customers. Backer material must provide the capability to incorporate identification numbers in the silhouette pockets as required.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE CHARACTERISTICS:

Tested in accordance with ASTM D543-2000. Resistant to all common solvents, oils, hydraulic fluids, skydrol, etc.

MACHINING CAPABILITY:

Foam can be router cut, water jet cut, or die cut and maintain the physical properties required to adequately meet varying retention requirements of different customers.

FOAM JOINING:

The base and top layers must be securely adhered together, with no adhesive residue in tool cut-outs. Adhesive method must resist common chemicals.

TOOL LAYOUTS AND TOOLBOX DRAWER CONFIGUATION

Toolbox drawer layouts must all match each other. All layouts must be approved by customer.

TOOL BOX REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATION

All toolboxes must have the same drawer size and number of drawers to maintain continuity with other toolboxes as well as continuity with the inventories. Keylocks are required for each toolbox.

Toolbox physical characteristics will be provided by customer for each tool kit. Some of the basic features that are required are listed below:

All toolbox drawer handles must be recessed to the surface of the Cabinet housing to prevent damage to drawer handles.

Drawers must have heavy duty drawer slides with full extension. This Means we must be able to get to every tool in the drawer without having to reach back into the portion of the drawer that is still in the toolbox housing.

Each individual drawer must have a latch mechanism that has to be actuated to open the I drawer.

The working surface on the top of the box must have ribbed or textured work mat that covers the top completely. Mat does not need to be secured or glued down.
