About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a mobile ground penetrating radar (GPR) system required by the federal government, dated June 17, 2026.
The requirement specifies procurement of one (1) GPR unit with a Panasonic G2 tablet controller featuring a 10.1" WUXGA display, Intel Core i5-10310U vPro processor, and 9.5-hour battery operation. The GPR system shall operate at 350 MHz frequency with minimum range of 12 feet and maximum range of at least 35 feet, both media-dependent. The equipment must support external Bluetooth-enabled GPS with built-in GPS pole adapter, Map Mode for tracing operator steps, APWA color-coded marks on 2D data with simultaneous geo-referenced mapping, and 3D scan capabilities. Communication between tablet and antenna requires a rugged Ethernet cable with no Wi-Fi connectivity allowed. Both GPR and tablet must maintain IP65 environmental rating and operate across extreme temperatures from -20°C to 40°C. The system weighs 37 pounds with dimensions of 22 x 19.25 x 12.5 inches when folded and includes durability testing per MIL-STD-810H standards. Software requirements include real-time Band Filter, Linescan Mode with LineTrac overlay option, Map Mode with GIS integration, 3D grid display, Focus Mode for closely-spaced targets, and 5 software licenses. The delivery location is Aviano Air Base, 33081 Italy, with in-person user training required for 10 attendees.

Salient Characteristics - Mobile Ground Penetrating Radar 17 Jun 2026
1. Description of requirement. This requirement is for 1 ground penetrating radar (GPR).
The ground penetrating radar (GPR) shall easily pair with external Bluetooth-enabled GPS, including a built-in GPS pole adapter, Map Mode capable of tracing the operator steps and gain a bird’s-eye view of the survey. It shall place APWA color-coded marks on 2D data and geo-referenced map simultaneously, collect and create 3D scans. A Rugged Ethernet cable is required for communication between tablet and Antenna where no Wi-Fi is allowed. GPR and tablet shall be rated IP65 to withstand rain, dust and extreme temperatures from -20°C (- 4°F) to 40 °C (104°F).
