4 Installation WARNING! Risk of electric shock.
Work with electric equipment is to be carried out by a qualified electrician.
WARNING! Risk of personal injuries.
Before installing the unit, ensure that the input power supply to Fan Start/Stop Device (Handheld) is off for at least 5 minutes.
NOTE! All installation material not included in the initial delivery must be approved of according to local regulations.
4.1 Overview
See figure 3, which shows a Nederman exhaust extraction system MagnaTrack with a start/stop device:
1. Fan starter.
2. Receiver with internal antenna.
3. Nederman NCF fan.
4.2 Install the receiver
Install the receiver in the middle of the room and as high as possible for good reception, see figure 3. To obtain maximum range, the receiver must be mounted in an unscreened position clear of metallic objects and away from any cables carrying high current, see Figures 3 and 4.
NOTE! Do not install the receiver, which contains an internal antenna, in a screened location such as a metal box that would interfere with the transmission signal.
4.3 Wiring diagrams
See figures 5 to 8 for information about how to connect the fan, contactor, motor protector, transformer and fan inverter.
5. Fan contacter
6. Two fan contactors
7. Damper control
8. Fan inverters
NOTE! A network power switch is recommended for the electrical system including the fan.
4.3.1 Connecting new and old systems
For information about how to connect a new receiver with a receiver manufactured before April, 2013, see ‘Appendix A: Connecting old (Gen 1 and Gen 2) and new (Gen 3) systems’.
4.4 Program the receiver
Program the receiver to find only one transmitter. Additional transmitters will be automatically linked to the system. To link transmitters to the receiver, see section 3.2 ‘Main components’, figures 1 and 2, and follow the procedure below:
1. Press the start button on only one transmitter that is to be linked to the receiver. All other transmitters must be turned off, see Figure 1. Power LEDs (item 2), LED 8 (item 6) and LED 10 (item 7) are lit.
NOTE! If power to the transmitter is less than 6V, its LED will be lit (red). The power is weak, but the transmitter can still send a signal to the receiver as long as the power is greater than 5V.
2. Press receiver button F once. Power LEDs (item 2) and programming LED 7 (item 8) are lit.
3. Press receiver button S once.
4. Press the transmitter Test button halfway and hold for 3 to 4 seconds until the receiver has found the transmitter.
The receiver relay function LEDs (5,1,2,3,4) (item 1), flash three times when the receiver has found the transmitter.
5. Receiver relay function LED 1 (item 1) is lit.
NOTE! Power LED 1 remains lit until the transmitter is turned off, or the receiver looses contact with the transmitter.
4.5 Reset the receiver
See section 3.2 ‘Main components’, figures 1 and 2, and follow the procedure below:
1. Press receiver button F once.
2. Press and hold receiver button S until the function relay LEDs (5,1,2,3,4) are not lit.
The system is now unlinked, and no transmitters work with the receiver. See section 4.4 ‘Program the receiver’ to re-link the receiver to the transmitters.
4.6 Installation check
Follow the procedure below to check the installation, see Figure 1:
1. Push the Test button.
2. Check that the transmitter LED is lit (green), see Figure 2. If the LED is lit (red), power to transmitter is weak; less than 6V.
3. Check that the fan starts.
4. The fan stops after approximately 2.5 minutes, unless another transmitter is active, such as one in a vehicle.
NOTE! If the fan does not stop, make sure all vehicles are off and that no transmitter is on, or at least that the power to the transmitter is less than 1V.
5 How to use transmitter Test button Push the Test button to start the fan. It can be used to check that the whole system works. If no other transmitter is active, such as one in a vehicle, the fan stops after 2.5 minutes. If the Test button is pressed before 2.5 minutes has elapsed, the time before the fan stops is reset for an additional 2.5 minutes. After 2.5 minutes have elapsed, the system returns to Auto mode.
NOTE! Pressing the Test button continually before 2.5 minutes has elapsed, will not add more than 2.5 minutes.
NOTE! If another transmitter, such as one in a vehicle is active, the Test button cannot be used for system test. Also, the fan does not stop after 2.5 minutes.
Auto button If the Off button has been pushed, and the system needs to be returned to Auto mode before 20 minutes has elapsed, press the Auto button. Then if the Test button is pushed, or a transmitter such as one in a vehicle is activated, the fan starts. If the Test button is not pushed again, or if there is no other transmitter active, the fan stops after 2.5 minutes have elapsed.
Off button Press the Off button to override Auto mode, which turns off the fan for 20 minutes, even if there is another active transmitter, such as one in a vehicle. If the Off button is pressed before 20 minutes has elapsed, the fan continues to be off for an additional 20 minutes. After 20 minutes have elapsed, the system returns to Auto mode.
NOTE! Pressing the Off button continually before 20 minutes has elapsed, will not add more than 20 minutes.
6 Maintenance Check the system at least once a month. See section 4.6 ‘Installation check’.

7 Recycling The product has been designed for component materials to be recycled. Its different material types must be handled according to relevant local regulations. Contact the distributor or Nederman if uncertainties arise when scrapping the product at the end of its service life.
8 Spare parts Contact your nearest authorized distributor or Nederman for advice on technical service or if you require help with spare parts. See also www.nederman.com.
When ordering spare parts always state the following:
• Part number and control number (see the product identification nameplate).
• Detail number and name of the spare part (see www.nederman.com).
• Quantity of the parts required.
9 Troubleshooting For the location of LEDs, see figure 1.
Table 9-1: Troubleshooting
Error Possible cause Solution Receiver LED 1 is not lit, but the receiver does not work when receiving transmission.
1. The receiver is connected incorrectly.

5. Do not place the receiver so that it is screened such as in a metal box.
The receiver’s orange and yellow LEDs are lit, and the transmitter’s LED is lit (green), but the relay does not operate.
The receiver is unprogrammed. Program the receiver. See section 4.4 ‘Program the receiver’.
The transmitter LED is lit (red) when transmitting.
Power to the transmitter is under 6V. Check the power supply so that transmitter receives more than 5V.
The transmitter LED is not lit, (neither green nor red) when transmitting.
1. There is no power to the transmitter.
2. The transmitter is broken.
1. Check the power supply.
2. Try another transmitter.
LED 1 in the receiver is not lit (red) when receiving transmission.
