About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a Double Flare Machine for the 36th Maintenance Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The specification details 12 precise requirements for the machine, including the ability to produce single and double-lap flares and upset beading on various metal tubing types (aluminum, steel, CRES, and titanium), specific dimensional constraints of 36in x 24in x 24in, and pneumatic power operation with no electrical connections. The machine must have capabilities for double lapping tubing from 1/8in to 1/2 in OD, single flaring from 1/8in to 3/4 in OD, and beading from 3/16in to 1/2 in OD, all using annealed ferrous or nonferrous tubing. Additional requirements include standard MS and SAE flare specifications, single lever operation, steel construction for corrosion resistance, and the ability to produce flaring angles of 37 and 45 degrees in accordance with Military Spec 33583.
