About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the 554 RED HORSE Squadron WiFi Installation contract (Solicitation Number FA524025Q0035). The solicitation seeks a WiFi installation project for multiple buildings, with key technical specifications including a 200 Mbps internet speed, user-based authentication, and coverage for up to 60 concurrent personnel. The contract is a brand new requirement with no pre-existing WiFi infrastructure, currently using only a mobile BEC system through GTA.
The Q&A reveals several important details about the project scope: there are no existing LAN/Ethernet terminations, no IoT device support requirements, and no content filtering needed. The exact number of access points (APs) is flexible, with the expectation that the final quantity will be determined through a site assessment to optimize coverage. The government will provide last mile fiber for commercial internet installation, and security platforms are expected to be provided by the service provider. The primary challenge identified is that current mobile systems do not provide adequate speeds to support software updates, driving the need for this WiFi installation.

554 RED HORSE Squadron WiFi Installation
FA524025Q0035
Q: Is this a brand new contract OR if there is (was) an incumbent performing these services?
A: This is a brand new requirement with no record of pre-exeisting services.
Q: Can you provide a floor plan of the areas requiring WiFi coverage, including the dimensions of just one of the rooms in the floor plan based on square feet.
A: Floor plans attached.
Q: Are the internal walls dividing the o ices concrete/drywall? If there is a mix can you notate which walls are concreate on the floor plan?
A: Unfortunately, that information is not available to me and would have to be identified during site assessment. It would be best to prepare for mixed materials.
Q: Requirement is reflecting a total of 16 Aps, please provide the quantity of APs needed per building?
A: Aps are guestimates and could increase or decrease to maximize coverage based on heat maps of the buildings, this should be determined upon site assessment.
Q: Should the vendor have no facilities for the buildings, will last mile fiber be provided by Base Communications?
A: Last mile fiber is approved for commercial internet installation.
Q: Reference to Combined Synopsis Pricing, CLIN 0001: Hybrid Fiber 200.0 Internet, please confirm if the requirement speed is for 200 Mbps or 150 Mbps.
A: 200Mbps is the required speed.
Q: Who is the current provider?
A:We only have one current provided using mobile BEC system through GTA.
Q: What is the existing generation of Wi-Fi, e.g. Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6, also what model and manufacturer (OEM)?
A: No Wifi currently in place.
Q: Are you looking for any existing infrastructure equipment refresh or upgrade under this contract?
A: Equipment upgrades should be necessary to maintain proper speeds and service.
Q: Do you require any LAN/Ethernet terminations for user access for the network at these locations for this contract, how many?
A: No
Q: Do you have network hardware or software licenses or support contracts that require renewal during the new contract period, do you have OEM warranty on the existing infrastructure equipment?
A: No
Q: What is the total number expected concurrent users for the Wi-Fi network at each location/building, any existing ISP, can the provider be optional?
A: up to 60 personnel, however this number varies.
Q: Other than computers and mobile devices, do you require support for IoT devices, e.g.
printers, thermometers, cameras etc. for the buildings?
A: No
Q: What type of wireless authentication do you intend to implement, is it based on user or device?
A: It is based on user, passwords will be created and controlled by leaders. This information will be provided to personnel that work in these buildings.
Q: What network security platform is implemented, any firewall option, what OEM and model, any unique requirement for the firewall, what headend equipment is desired or in place?
A: Security platforms should be provided by service providers.
Q: Can you point to any challenges you have experienced with the operation of any existing network infrastructure, any deficit or ine iciency that requires extra attention?
A: Mobile Bec systems are not always adequate options as they do not provide the best speeds to support software updates.
Q: Do you implement monitoring software for the network, and what options do you expect to view on the interface, example AP online/o line, active clients, per/client bandwidth etc.?
A: This is not a requirement
Q: Do you require content filtering and user access tracking.?
A: No
Q: Reference CLIN 0001 description below, are you asking for 4, 16 and 4 for each building, please can you specify the requirements. Also have you had any Wi-Fi site survey done to determine requirement for AP?
A: APs are guestimates and could increase or decrease to maximize coverage based on heat maps of the buildings, this should be determined upon site assessment.
